Offensive struggles continued to plague the Smyer Bobcats as they fell 34-6 to Crosbyton on Friday, dropping to 0-5 on the season.
The Bobcats struggled to consistently move the ball, finishing with 48 total offensive yards, 20 rushing and 28 passing. Smyer completed 6 of 13 passes, while the rushing attack averaged just one yard per carry.
Crosbyton broke the game open in the second quarter, scoring 20 unanswered points to take a 20-6 lead into halftime. The Chiefs added 14 points in the second half to pull away.
Defensively, Smyer had some activity from James Rampy with 17 tackles, while Alex Mattox added 12 tackles.
The Bobcats defense recorded 10 tackles-forloss and three sacks.
This loss keeps Smyer’s team winless of the season, but the Bobcats will have a bye week to prepare for their next matchup, starting district play versus Sudan on Oct. 9
