Whitharral golf teams both place 4th at Amherst Invitational

The Whitharral Panthers and Lady Panthers golf teams competed in the Amherst Invitational at the Olton Country Club this past Monday and came away with several respectable results.

Both teams placed fourth overall in their respective team competitions. On the boys’ side, Cale Dockery shot a 94, Dillon Johnson shot a 105, Hudson Prowell shot a 105, Keegan Edwards shot a 109 and Greg Johnson shot a 123.

On the girls’ side, Emberly Prowell shot a 109, Ashtyn Potter shot a 117, Shelby Pinkston shot a 132 and Nicole Barrera shot a 140.

“Monday’s round was challenging, with difficult weather conditions throughout much of the day,” Whitharral Head Golf Coach Ben Prowell said. “It was also the first tournament of the season for several of our boys due to our late basketball run, but it gave many of them the opportunity to play the same course we’ll see at district next week. We’re hoping to take what we learned from Monday’s round and put ourselves in a stronger position by the end of the district competition.”

As Coach Prowell mentioned, both teams will be back in action on Thursday for the District Tournament at the Olton Country Club. That marks the first of the final three scheduled postseason meets for both teams.
