The South Plains College rodeo program competed at the Howard College Rodeo this past Thursday through Saturday in Big Spring, resulting in four athletes making the short round.
In the tie down roping, Jaxon Stoker placed sixth in the short round after posting a 23.9. In the long round, Stoker qualified with a 10.1 and Cactus Barnes placed 25th after posting a 20.8.
In the team roping, Caden Harrel as a heeler placed third in the short round after posting an 8.0, which was identical to his long round go. The duo of Jantsen Trice and Barnes placed 12th in the long round after posting a 22.5.
In the barrel racing, Sierra Telford placed fourth in the short round with a 16.28 after posting a 15.89 in the long round to qualify. Kambell Schmidt placed 34th in the long round after posting a 16.87.
In the goat tying, McKenna Hipps placed ninth in the short round with a 10.3 after qualifying with a 9.6 in the long round. Along with her in the long round, Katie Knez placed 16th with a 10.4 and Zaran Kirkpatrick placed 18th with a 11.1.
Following a good outing, SPC rodeo returns at the West Texas A&M Rodeo this Thursday through Saturday in Canyon. Then they’ll host the Joe Dee Brooks Memorial Rodeo at the Mallet Event Center in Levelland from April 23-25.
