The Morton Indians played host to the Post Antelopes for a district baseball matchup this past Tuesday night, resulting in the Indians falling 14-10 across seven innings.
Post led 2-0 after three innings, and the two teams would both score three runs in the next two frames. Morton would win the sixth inning 7-6 before Post closed out the game with a threerun seventh inning.
In the team statistics, Post bested Morton 10-7 in walks and 1-6 in errors committed, while Morton bested them 9-8 in hits.
Standouts at the plate for the Indians included first baseman Britton Boggs going 3/3 with four runsbatted-in, two runs scored, a home run and a walk, catcher Jaeden Alvarado going ¼ with two RBIs, a run scored, a double and a walk, center fielder Jesus Agurrie going ¼ with two RBIs and a stolen base, EJ Rivas and Aidyn Ramirez both with an RBI, designated hitter Hez Silvas going ¾ with two runs scored and a double, second baseman Masyn Enriquez going 1/3 with two runs scored and a walk, and shortstop Brayden Villarreal with two walks, two stolen bases and a run scored.
On the mound for Morton, EJ Rivas pitched five innings, surrendering four earned runs on four hits and six walks while striking out six batters. Boggs would enter in relief and pitch two innings, surrendering three earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four batters.
The loss drops the Indians to 3-18 overall and 3-10 in district play, which puts them seventh in the 2A District 4 baseball standings.
They play their final game of the season and close the series against Post over the weekend on the road.
