Indians lose to Tahoka, 17-2

The Morton Indians hosted the Tahoka Bulldogs for a district baseball matchup this past Saturday, resulting in the Indians losing to them 17-2 across five innings.

The two teams exited the first inning tied at 1-1, then Tahoka would add five runs in the second inning and Morton would respond with a run in the third inning, before Tahoka would score 11 unanswered runs to secure the win.

In the team stats, the Bulldogs would edge out the Indians 8-2 in hits, 8-3 in walks drawn and 0-9 in errors committed.

In the quiet offensive game, standouts included catcher EJ Rivas going 1/3 with a triple and a run scored, third baseman Britton Boggs going ½ with a run-batted-in, Jaeden Alvarado going 1/1 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk, and Aidyn Ramirez and Masyn Enriquez who both drew a walk apiece.

On the mound, Alvarado got the start and pitched three innings, surrendering seven earned runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out three batters. He’d be relieved by Boggs, who tossed two scoreless innings, giving up zero earned runs on no hits and four walks while striking out four batters.

The loss drops the Indians to 3-11 overall and 3-3 in 2A District 4 play. They’ll return to action for a series against New Home this week. They face them on the road early in the week before hosting them on Friday at 11 a.m.
