Lady Eagles fall to Pantherettes, 69-17

The Ropes Lady Eagles squared off against the #1 Panhandle Pantherettes in the Regional Semifinals Round of the 2A Division 1 girls basketball playoffs, resulting in the Lady Eagles losing 69-17.

The Lady Eagles trailed by 22 points after the first quarter, and they could never really get into a game rhythm from there, leading to a tough result.

Scorers for the Lady Eagles included Brooklyn Hogg with 10 points, Sydney Brooks with three points, and Karli Rhoads and Rylie Lester both with two points.

The loss finalizes Ropes' record 23-12 overall, and following the game, Lady Eagles Head Basketball Coach Marianne Wolfe reflected on it and the season as a whole.

“I don’t think you will find a more complete team than Panhandle. What a tremendous learning opportunity for our team to be in a position to compete with them and be on that stage,” Coach Wolfe said. “There’s so much to be excited about looking forward with this program and these young ladies. The growth we had as a team, with the game of basketball, and just the level of expectation that is now set is a testament to the heart and determination of these girls, our coaches, administration and our families. The future is bright for Ropes girls basketball.”

A lot of the talk surrounding the program this season was the development of a young team, and not only did they grow, but captured two Gold Balls along the way. So, it will be exciting to see how the program progresses next season.
