Lady Eagles lose to Lady Winds, 15-0

The Ropes Lady Eagles traveled on the road for a softball matchup against the Floydada Lady Winds this past Tuesday night, resulting in the Lady Eagles losing 15-0 across four innings.

Floydada scored two runs in the first inning, eight runs in the second inning, four runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth inning to earn the run rule win.

In the team statistics, Floydada bested Ropes 17-1 in hits, 3-2 in walks and 0-2 in errors committed.

Marlee Molina and Braedyn Reyna would handle the duties on the mound for the Lady Eagles; as Molina pitched two innings, surrendering 10 earned runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out a batter, and Reyna pitched an inning, surrendering five earned runs on seven hits and a walk.

Standouts at the plate for the Lady Eagles included Marlee Molina going ½ and catcher Camden Dodd with two walks.

“We knew that it would be a tough matchup against the state’s top team,” Ropes Head Softball Coach Joey Ybarra said. “We made plays when we could and never gave up, and even though our bats didn’t come through as much as we’d hoped, I’m proud of the effort and resilience the team showed.”

The loss drops Ropes to 13-11 overall this season. They’ll enjoy the weekend off before returning on Tuesday at 5 p.m. for a road matchup at Lockney.
