Lady Eagles roll over O’Donnell, 22-5

The Ropes Lady Eagles softball team traveled on the road to face the O’Donnell Lady Eagles this past Tuesday night and earned a 22-5 blowout win across six innings.

The game was close after the first two innings, knotted up at 5-5, before Ropes would explode for an eightrun fourth inning and a nine-run sixth inning while holding O’Donnell scoreless through the final four frames in route to win.

“I’m really proud of the growth we’re seeing,” Ropes Head Softball Coach Joey Ybarra said. “This group is committed, getting better daily, executing offensively and doing a great job supporting our pitcher defensively.”

That growth certainly showed up on the stat sheet as Ropes outhit O’Donnell, 22-4, and drew nine walks offensively, while also only committing one defensive error in the game.

Standouts for Ropes at the plate included first baseman Camden Dodd going 4/5 with seven runs-batted-in, a double, a triple, a home run, a walk and a stolen base, second baseman Kambry Turner going ¾ with three RBI’s, two walks, a triple and a stolen base, third baseman Jazzlynn Perez going 4/5 with two RBI’s and a stolen base, catcher Ezmeralda Saenz going 4/6 with a double and a triple, and Braedyn Reyna going 2/4 with three RBI’s, a double and a walk.

Reyna would also start the game on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings, surrendering five runs and three hits, while striking out three batters. Brooklyn Hogg would enter in relief and pitch the final 3.2 innings, surrendering no runs and one hit while striking out six batters.

Following the flawless performance, the Lady Eagles sit at 9-7 overall, riding a five-game win streak. They’ll look to add onto that on the road against Highland Park over the weekend.
