Levelland golf teams both finish third at District

The Levelland Lobos and Loboettes golf teams competed in the 4A District 5 Golf Tournament this past Wednesday through Thursday at Yoakum County, and they came away with several noteworthy finishes.

The girls’ team of Alexis Garcia, Sage Barrera, Raily Pence and Aubrey Morin placed third with a two-day total of 760.

Their effort was highlighted by Morin, who was the District Champion with a total score of 157, which earned her All-District honors and advanced her to the Regional Tournament.

Pence also had a great competition, shooting a 184 to make the All-District Team and come in as first alternate. Barrera would come in as a second alternate as well.

On the boys’ side, the team of Lorenzo Galvan, Charles Wiiest, Mason Tidwell, Conner Grissom and Gunnar Barrera placed third with a two-day total score of 659. Individually, Grissom would come in as a second alternate.

“Both teams played well for two days across 36 holes in blazing heat. We were in it until the very end,” Levelland Head Golf Coach Stan Weatherred said.
