Loboettes dismantle Lady Matadors, 23-4

The Levelland Loboettes traveled on the road for a district softball matchup against the Estacado Lady Matadors this past Tuesday night, resulting in the Loboettes dismantling them 23-4 across three innings.

The Loboettes dominated every single aspect of the game, besting Estacado 11-0 in hits, 10-5 in walks drawn and 3-6 in errors committed.

“The girls came out tonight and took care of their business,” Levelland Head Softball Coach Adrian Holland said. “They were patient at the plate and hit good pitches when they got them.”

That approach at the plate thrived, producing several noteworthy performances including shortstop Madilyn Barrientes going 4/4 with seven runs-batted-in, four runs scored and three doubles, right fielder Carleigh Delgado going 2/2 with five RBI’s, two runs scored, a home run, a double and a walk, and second baseman Jill Lopez going 2/3 with three RBI’s, two runs scored and a stolen base.

Other Loboette standouts included first baseman Adrianna Castellano going 1/1 with three runs scored, two RBI’s, two walks and a home run, center fielder Tiffany File going 1/3 with two RBI’s, a double, a walk and a run scored, Delaney Delgado going 1/1 with four runs scored, three walks and a double, and Angelina Gonzales with three runs scored and an RBI.

And as good as the offense was, Delaney Delgado was just as good on the mound, pitching all three innings and only surrendering two earned runs on zero hits and five walks, while striking out five batters.

The win improves the Loboettes to 18-7 overall and 4-2 in district play, which puts them third in the 4A District 5 softball standings.

They return to action over the weekend at San Angelo Lakeview before hosting Lubbock Cooper Liberty on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
