Loboettes lose to Big Spring, 21-10

The Levelland Loboettes softball team played host to the Big Spring Lady Steers this past Thursday night, resulting in the Loboettes losing 21-10 across six innings.

Levelland led 5-4 after the first inning, and the two teams were knotted 7-7 after the second inning before Big Spring would win the final four frames 14-3.

The Loboettes won the walks column 5-4, Big Spring won the hits column 23-10 and the two teams tied at two errors a piece.

“We played very well even though we didn’t get the win,” Levelland Head Softball Coach Adrian Holland said. “The girls battled and were able to score 10 runs on the day, it just wasn’t enough to get the win. Errors hurt us as well as difficulty getting the routine out. We are in a tough spot right now, but we will battle back.”

The Loboettes standouts at the plate included first baseman Adrianna Castellano going 2/4 with five runs-batted-in, a home run and a double, shortstop Madilyn Barrientes going 1/3 with two RBI’s, two runs scored, a home run and a walk, center fielder Tiffany File going 2/3 with an RBI and a double, left fielder Mia Sepulbeda going ¼ with two runs scored, a home run and an RBI, second baseman Delaney Delgado going 2/3 with a double and a walk, and catcher Madi Seat going ½ with two walks.

On the mound, Jocelynn Arriaga pitched 5.2 innings and struck out two batters, and Delgado also recorded an out.

The loss drops the Loboettes to 17-7 overall and 3-2 in district play, which puts them third in the 4A District 5 softball standings.

They return to play early in the week at Lubbock Estacado before heading to San Angelo on Friday night to face Lakeview at 6:30 p.m.
