Loboettes lose to Snyder, 7-1

The Levelland Loboettes traveled on the road for a district softball matchup against the Snyder Lady Tigers this past Thursday night, resulting in a 7-1 Loboettes loss across seven innings.

Snyder scored two runs in the second inning; Levelland added one in the top of the fourth inning, and then Snyder scored five unanswered runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to secure the win.

In the team stats, Levelland bested Snyder 2-1 in walks, while Snyder bested them 15-3 in hits and 1-2 in errors committed.

Jocelynn Arriaga pitched the entirety of the game for the Loboettes, surrendering three earned runs on 15 hits and one walk.

Standouts at the plate for Levelland included first baseman Adrianna Castellano going ½ with a run-batted- in, a double and a walk, second baseman Delaney Delgado going ½ with a walk, catcher Madi Seat going 1/3 and designated hitter Jill Lopez with a run scored.

“Both teams came out determined to get the win. We just weren’t able to get hits during the game to score runs,” Levelland Head Softball Coach Adrian Holland said. “Errors allowed Snyder to score runs and with a pitcher like Sydney Gomez (Snyder’s starter) it was difficult to catch up.”

The loss drops the Loboettes to 20-8 overall and 5-3 in district play, which puts them third in the 4A District 5 softball standings.

They return to play early in the week on the road at Frenship Memorial before enjoying a weekend off from competition.
