Loboettes pummel Liberty, 22-5

The Levelland Loboettes softball team went on the road to face Lubbock Cooper Liberty this past Friday, pummeling them 22-5 to secure the win.

The Loboettes outscored Liberty 10-2 in the first inning, and they were off to the races from there. They’d best Liberty 16-8 in hits, 9-0 in walks and 0-2 in errors in route to the victory.

“The ladies came out today and were very patient at the plate waiting on strikes,” Levelland Head Softball Coach Adrian Holland said. “Liberty’s pitcher was having a difficult time getting the ball across the plate, and the girls were patient and hit the ball hard once she did throw us strikes. Delaney Delgado led the team with six runs-batted-in on the day, hitting her first homerun in district and third homerun on the year. Jocelynn Arriaga received her second consecutive victory on the mound.”

Delgado’s standout performance at the plate was amongst many for the Loboettes, including Jill Lopez going 2/3 with four RBI’s, two doubles and a walk, Mia Sepulbeda going 3/3 with five runs scored, two RBI’s, two walks and a double, Mari Reyna going 2/3 with three runs scored, two RBI’s, a double and a walk, and Jazlyn Diaz going 2/4 with two RBI’s and a double.

And in route to her second consecutive victory on the mound, Arriaga pitched the full game, holding Liberty to four earned runs on eight hits, while adding a strikeout.

The win improves the Loboettes to 16-5 overall and 2-0 in district play. They’ll be back in action twice this week at home against Snyder early in the week and away against Frenship Memorial on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
