Roughettes run rule Seagraves, 15-0

The Sundown Roughettes hosted the Seagraves Lady Eagles for a district softball matchup this past Tuesday night, resulting in the Roughettes run ruling them 15-0 across four innings.

The Roughettes started off strong with an 11-run first inning, then added three runs in the second inning and a run in the fourth inning to put the game to bed.

Sundown’s standouts at the plate included Breigh Gregory going ¾ with three runs-batted-in, a run scored and a double, first baseman Araceli Ibarra going 2/3 with three RBI’s, two runs scored and a double, Destiny Garza going 2/3 with three RBI’s, a run scored and a double, and left fielder Avy McGlasson going 1/3 with three RBI’s, a run scored and a home run.

Others included Brynly Gregory going 2/4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a double, center fielder Camry Jourden going ½ with two runs scored, an RBI, a double and a walk, and shortstop Emry Jourden going ½ with three runs scored, two walks and a stolen base.

That endless supply of offense was nice for the Roughettes, but proved unnecessary as Destiny Garza tossed a no-hitter on the mound. Garza pitched all four innings, holding Seagraves to zero runs on no hits and a walk while striking out seven batters.

The win improves the Roughettes to 16-3 overall and 6-0 in district play, which puts them first in the 2A District 4 softball standings.

They return to action over the weekend to host Tahoka before heading on the road to play against Morton on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
