Sundown, Whiteface compete at Pumpjack Invitational

Sundown High School hosted the Pumpjack Golf Invitational this past Monday and Wednesday, and both the Sundown boys and girls teams and the Whiteface boys team competed, coming away with many great performances.

On Monday, the Sundown boys team placed second overall with a total score of 325, led by Isaiah Igo, who shot a 70 and placed second individually.

Other Rough- neck scores included Drew Igo with a 74, Brock Bufe with a 90, Landry Farrar with a 91 and Axel Garcia with a 105.

"We didn't have our A-plus game but competed well. I'm looking forward to getting dialed in and pre - pared for district upcoming," Sundown Head Golf Coach Kyle Igo said. Meanwhile for the White face boys, Hudson Wilcox shot a 106, Braxton David- son shot a 109 and Rylan Poage shot a 119. They didn't qualify for a team score due to being under the four-athlete requirement.

“They are really falling in love with the game of golf, and I look forward to seeing them develop as players over the season," Whiteface Head Golf Coach Joshua Damron said.

And then on Wednesday, the Sundown girls team placed second overall with a total score of 245, led by Jayden Sandlin, who shot a 47 and placed first individually.

Other Roughette scores included Bethany Honesto with a 62, Maddy Medrano with a 63 and Addie Hord with a 73.

"It was a very gutsy per - formance by the girls today," Coach Igo said. "Absolutely brutal conditions (wind gusts of 30+ miles per hour) but our girls battled. Jayden fired a great round in these tough conditions."

Following the competition, all three teams will enjoy Spring Break before returning to action. Both Sundown team will compete at the Sands Invitational in Hobbs, New Mexico on March 23, and Whiteface will compete in Dimmitt on March 24.
