LPD warns of scam cartel kidnapping calls

The Levelland Police Department LPD) has received an increase in reports of fraudulent calls from unknown callers claim to be affiliated with a cartel and allege to a loved one has been kidnapped.

DHS imposes additional immigration restrictions

The U.S. Department of State has paused immigrant visa processing for nationals from 75 countries starting Jan. 21, citing risks of 'public benefits usage.”The policy will affect permanent residency but not temporary visas (tourist, student, work).

LISD board to hold regular, public meeting

The LISD Board of Trustees will be holding both a public meeting and regular board meeting on Jan. 21 at 6 p.m.The 2025 final audit report is expected to be presented and a public TAPR public hearing will be held.

Fire Department Report

Jan. 8Fire Department dispatched to the 2000 block of Hwy 114 regarding a gas leak. Upon arrival, Atmos was on scene and advised someone ran over the meter. Fire crew plugged the pipe and Atmos stated a crew was arriving to crimp the pipe.
