Hockley County DA’s Office receives TPSO grant funding

The 286th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is announced the recent acquisition of a significant grant aimed at offsetting the costs associated with the forthcoming capital murder trial of Omar Soto-Chavira.

PEP MOSAIC

PEP MOSAIC- The City of Pep was presented a mosaic on Saturday at the St. Phlip Neri Catholic Church Hall in Pep. The mosaic will be installed in one of the handrails at the Hockley County Courthouse. The mosaic is a buffalo (Pep’s school mascot) presented by Sharla Baldridge, Hockley County Judge.

Levelland Fire Report

8/6/2023 - DISPATCH 10:12 P.M. - CLEARED 10:32 P.M. LEVELLAND The Levelland Fire Department was dispatched to a residence located near 10th Street and Avenue E in regard to a possible structure fire. Upon arrival, fire personnel discovered a small pit in a backyard.

Hockley County Sheriff’s Report

INCIDENTSUMMARY 8/6/2023 – 3:46 P.M. – ROPESVILLE Deputies with the HCSO were dispatched to a residence located at the 400 block of E. Ellwood in Ropesville in reference to an animal cruelty issue. Deputies arrived on scene and confirmed an animal cruelty complainant. A report was also made.

City Council announces two special meetings

The Levelland City Council has set two special meetings, Monday August 14, at 6 p.m. and Tuesday, August 15 at 6 p.m. Monday’s meeting will begin with a staff update on the progress of the investigation into the Red Flour Beetles in the Kaufmann Addition.

Commissioners’ Court sets meeting, Aug. 14

The Hockley County Commissioners’ Court will be holding a regular meeting Monday, August 14, in the Commissioners’ Courtroom located at the Hockley County Courthouse.

Thunder on the Plains set Aug.18

Thunder on the Plains will be coming to Levelland August 1819, with their 17th Annual Car Show. For Friday, August 18, the event will begin with the Poker Run at 6:30 p.m. and will end at 7:30 p.m. The cruise will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will wrap-up around 9 p.m.
