LCDC holds meeting Aug. 16

The Levelland Community Development Corporation Board of Directors will be holding a meeting Wednesday, August 16 at 6 p.m. at City Hall. The board will begin the meeting with the approval of the August 2 meeting before receiving a financial report.

Gov. Abbott addresses energy concerns

Governor Greg Abbott ceremonially signed critical energy legislation passed during the 88th Regular Legislative Session following his keynote address at the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association’s (TIPRO) Summer Conference in San Antonio.

8/8/2023 – 11:04 A.M. – 1500 block of 15th Street Two officers with the Levelland Police Department were dispatched to the Law Enforcement Center in reference to an assault that had already occurred. After an investigation was conducted, a report was filed and photos were taken. 8/7/2023 – 8:20 A.

Football season is fast approaching with high school scrimmages underway this past weekend. The News-Press staff has been working hard to get together another football preview ready, which individuals can expect to come out opening week of the regular season.

Smyer ISD sets lunch program

The Smyer ISD will operate the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program for school year 2023-2024.

SPC Board of Regents look toward next fiscal year

South Plains College held their monthly regular meeting Thursday, regarding a proposed budget, tax rate and upcoming school year. SPC President Dr. Robin Satterwhite addressed the board regarding the proposed 20232024 budget and tax rate.

City Council sets tax rate adoption ceiling

The Levelland City Council held a regular meeting Monday, at City Hall. Continuing their budget and tax rate discussions, Interim City Manager Joe Cavazos presented the multiple numbers that were provided by the Hockley County Tax Assessor.
