Ropes Eagles end season at Abilene Christian University

The Ropes Eagles made school history with their great performance this basketball season making it to the State Semi-Finals of playoffs where they fell to the Meyer Ravens 5851, in a close game.

The start of the game got scary for the Eagles as they fell early 7-0 at the start of the first quarter. Head Coach Lane Jackson called a timeout to regroup his team and regroup they did as they put together a run and stopped the Ravens on defense getting back into the game and making the score 15-9 at the end of the first quarter.

For the second quarter of the game Ropes was able to win the quarter as their offense put up another 15 points while the defense held them to 13 to make thes core 28-24 at the half with the Eagles down.

The leading scorer for the Eagles at the halftime break were both Kade Franklin and Reese Williams, both with six points a piece.

The third quarter, the Eagles were back on the court but were struggling on defense as they were outscored once more, this time 18-14 trailing by even more and making the score 46-38, heading into the fourth quarter of play.

The Eagles never gave up but it was too much for them to overcome in the final quarter as some of the starters were in foul trouble making it hard to play aggressive and tough on the team. Although it was a great run by Ropes they eventually fell 5851 on a great season.

The Eagles leading scorer for the game was Kade Franklin with 17 points on the night. Williams added another 13 points, Brennan Bearden had eight poitns, Branson Simental and Cutter Stumbo each had four points a piece, Bode Franklin had three and Brady Bryan finished with two points.

The Eagles finish off their great basketball season with a 198 record on the year finishing second in their district. The team will say farewell to Seniors Brady Bryan, Bode Franklin, Brennan Bearden and Reese Williams as they graduate at the end of the school year.
