Nine members of the Sundown Roughette’s softball team earned nominations and postseason honors from the state's top high school softball organizations following a 305 season that ended with a class 2A division two state runner-up finish.
Brynly Gregory, senior, catcher, received a nomination to the Texas High School Coaches Association super elite team and class 2A offensive player of the year.
Gregory recorded a season .619 batting average, .620 on-base percentage, with 73 hits of 129 plate appearances.
Destiny Garza, junior pitcher, received a nomination to the super elite team as well.
Garza pitched a total of 107 innings throughout the season and had an earned run average of 2.486, allowing only 103 total hits for the season and 45 runs. Earning these honors from the THSCA places athletes among the best in Texas, recognizing the countless hours of hard work, dedication and excellence displayed throughout the season.

The Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) also announced nominations for the 2026 class 2A all-state softball team, with seven Roughettes making the list including Destiny Garza, junior, pitcher; Breigh Gregory, senior, third base; Brynly Gregory, senior, catcher; Araceli Ibarra, senior, first base; Camry Jourden, senior, outfield; Emry Jourden, senior, short stop; and Nayleen Morin, senior utility.

The University Interscholastic League (UIL) also announced the class 2A Division II State All-Tournament team that includes four Sundown Roughettes, including Destiny Garza, pitcher; Breigh Gregory, third base; Camry Jourden, outfield; and Nayleen Morin, utility.
The UIL all-state team recognizes the top softball players in Texas high schools on the state's biggest stage as a remarkable achievement that reflects the hard work, dedication and passion for the season.

The success of our Roughettes is a reflection of countless hours of preparation, perseverance, and teamwork,” said Sundown ISD on Facebook.
All-District honors for 2A Region 1 District 4 including Breigh Gregory, Co-MVP; Destiny Garza,Co-MVP; Brynly Gregory, Defensive MVP; Emry Jourden, Offensive MVP; Avy McGlasson, 1st Team utility; Araceli Ibarra, 1st Team infield; Nayleen Morin, 1st Team infield; Camry Jourden, 1st Team outfield; and Jaelyn Garcia, 2nd Team outfield.
The Sundown Roughtette’s softball team went 30-5 last season and claimed the state runner-up title after falling to Shiner 52 in the finals.
