Hancock distributes $1.1B sales tax revenue

Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for March, 2.1 percent more than in March 2025.

These allocations are based on sales made in January by businesses that report sales tax monthly.

Locally in Hockley County, Anton received $8,131 in sales tax revenue, up from 2025 in the same period by 3.07%.

Opdyke West increased 26.25%, receiving $367.57; Ropesville increased 27,.92%, receiving $15,618; and Smyer received $6,416, up by 16.64%.

Levelland decreased by -14.66%, receiving $342,019; and Sundown decreased -27.63%, receiving $26,262.

In Cochran County, Morton increased in tax revenue 34.85%, receiving $16,683, and Whiteface increased 11.61%, receiving $2,783.

Statewide, cities increased 2.4%, receiving $683.3 million and counties increased 5.1%, receiving $69.6 million. Transit systems received $238.8 million, an increase of 2.9%, and Special Purpose Districts were up 6.9% and received $112.3 million.
