Lobos playoff dreams remain alive

The Levelland Lobos traveled to Sweetwater to take on the Mustangs last Wednesday in UIL District Baseball play where the Lobos won 1-0. In the top of the first inning Noah Tienda was able to get on base after being hit by the pitch and Rusty Johnson was able to get on as well after he was walked, neither scoring a run though as it sat 0-0.

Roughnecks fall to Leopards on the road

The Sundown Roughnecks traveled to New Home to take on the Leopards this past Tuesday for UIL District Baseball action where the Roughnecks lost 17-1, after five innings. Sundown got their only point in the top of the first inning after Jaxon Rodriguez hit a solo home run to left field to take the early lead 1-0.

SPC Track and Field grab 10 event titles

CANYON, Texas — The South Plains College men’s and women’s track and field teams combined for 10 event titles Sunday at the Buffalo Invitational at the West Texas A&M Track and Field Complex. “We had a great weather day on Sunday, and our kids came out and took advantage of it,” South Plains head coach Erik Vance said.

Yore, Hisel and Murphy advance to CNFR

The South Plains College men’s and women’s rodeo teams closed out the season on Saturday at the Tarleton State Stampede, winning three region titles as Brey Yore, John Hisel, and Allie Murphy qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo.

Roughettes finish as the #1 seed in district

The Sundown Roughettes took on the Hale Center Lady Owls as the visiting team this past Friday to wrap up district play as the Roughettes won 10-3 in UIL District Softball play. The Roughettes were the first team on the board at the top of the first inning after Brynly Gregory doubled and Destiny Garza tripled, each scoring a run and the Roughettes scored on a wild pitch to make the score 3-0 early.

SPC Rodeo placed ninth place

BIG SPRING — The South Plains College men’s and women’s rodeo teams placed nine in the Howard College Rodeo finals Saturday night as the Lady Texans took fifth in the final team standings and the Texans placed eighth on the weekend.

Ropes downs Bobcats for first game in series

The Ropes Eagles took on the Smyer Bobcats this past Monday as the visiting team in UIL District Baseball where the Eagles won 21-8 after five innings. Ropes was the first team on the board in the top of the first inning after Austin Martinez made Kade Franklin hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run, Colton Mortensen drew a walk, scoring one run, Elijah Flores singled, scoring two runs and Branson Simental doubled, scoring three runs, making the score 7-0 early.

Lobos upset Snyder Tigers, 13-4

The Levelland Lobos took on the Snyder Tigers this past Friday as the visiting team for UIL District Baseball Action where the Lobos stunned the first place team in district, 15-4. The Lobos were the first team on the board in the top of the first inning after Noah Tienda scored on a passed ball giving Levelland the early 1-0 lead.

Loboette softball finishes district in second place

The Levelland Loboettes faced off against the Snyder Lady Tigers this past Friday as the visiting team for first seed in district where the Loboettes lost 5-0. Snyder first got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after their runner scored on an error committed by Levelland to give them the 1-0 lead.
