Levelland Main Street Program names Facade Grant recipients

    The Levelland Main Street Program is excited to announce the project recipients of the 20242025 façade grants.

    Façade grants focus on the exterior work of storefronts (visible to the public) on commercial buildings and upper story residential buildings in the Main Street area.

    Examples of such improvements (but not limited to) are awnings, window rehabilitation, brick repair, exterior paint, and signage.

    Applicants are encouraged to incorporate elements of historic preservation, energy efficiency, and accessibility into their improvement designs, where financially feasible or required by law. Proposed improvements must comply with applicable city building codes, zoning ordinances, and local and state laws.

    Additionally, projects must align with the design guidelines adopted for the area and be approved by both City staff and the Main Street Advisory Board. Façade improvements should aim to preserve and reflect the historical integrity of the building whenever possible.

    The façade grant program offers a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $2,000 per address. Grants are awarded as reimbursements upon completion of approved projects.

    To receive reimbursement, applicants must submit detailed, itemized receipts documenting the completed work in accordance with the original agreement.

    This grant cycle award was issued of $6,000, to two applicants. The Main Street Board read through the applications and made a recommendation to the City Council, and they unanimously approved them. We would like to congratulate the recipients The Wallace Theater and Our Stuff.

    Projects include new and replacement awnings, brick and concrete work, painting, new signage, and lighting.

    The Main Street Board and the City of Levelland are proud to support locally owned businesses and are grateful to have resources like the façade grant program available.

    These grants offer valuable reimbursement opportunities as projects are completed, helping business owners enhance their storefronts and, in turn, the entire downtown area.
