Governor Greg Abbott honored former LPD officer Shawn Wilson with the Star of Texas Award, recognizing his courage, sacrifice, and service following the July 15, 2021, shooting in Levelland. Wilson was critically wounded in the line of duty. Wilson continues to make a lasting impact on the community and the law enforcement profession teaching at the South Plains College Law Enforcement Academy. Sgt. Det. Ramirez and Chief Erica O’Bryon attended the event.
