South Plains College enrollment increases in Spring 2026

South Plains College’s total enrollment in Spring 2026 increased by five percent from last spring.On a daily comparison, Spring 2026 enrollment is at 10,260, while Spring 2025 enrollment reached 9,771.SPC saw a significant increase in the number of dual-credit students enrolled.

Early primary voting begins Feb. 17

The last day to register to vote in the March primary election was Monday as Texans prepare to decide the Democratic and Republican candidates for important races like the U.S. Senate, governor, and Texas attorney general as well as propositions for each party.

Trump sues IRS for $10 billion

President Donald Trump is suing the IRS and the Treasury Department for $10 billion, alleging they failed to take necessary steps to prevent a former IRS employee from leaking information. If Trump wins the lawsuit, the burden of payment falls on the American taxpayer.

The Hockley County Junior Livestock Show ended with a Buyer's Luncheon, awards presentation and sale this past Saturday, though delayed a week by a winter storm. FFA and 4-H princesses from several schools in attendance to add some sparkle to the closing events.
