Elsie Amalla Gamboa, 84, passed from this life on April 27, 2025. Funeral services were held at 10:00AM Friday, May 9, 2025 at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Anton. Interment will follow at the City of Anton Cemetery in Anton.
Elsie was born June 14, 1940 in Cuvo, New Mexico to Victor Sr. and Lucero Amalla. She graduated from Three Way High School in 1959 and later married Luis Gamboa Jr. She received her Registered Nurses’ Certification from Texas Tech University and worked for Saint Mary’s of the Plains Hospital for years. Her hobbies included cooking, and she made the best pecan pies. She enjoyed taking care of her three peach trees, pruning her rose bushes and morning glories. She remembered all her nephews and nieces’ birthdays and they always received a birthday phone call from her. Her favorite basketball team was the San Antonio Spurs, and she loved traveling across the county with her children. She was a devoted Catholic.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Luis. Gamboa, one daughter, four sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by her sons Luis III (Virgina Irene) Gamboa of San Antonio, grandsons she raised Roldan Blanco and Antonio Blanco both of Lubbock, brothers Cecil Amalla of Morton and Jose Amalla of Anton, grandchildren Heather, Chrystal, Monica and Brandon Gamboa, great granddaughter Helen Blanco and a host of nephews and nieces.
