RUBY GARZA
Funeral Mass for Ruby A. Garza, age 58, of Morton, Texas, is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. , Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Morton with Deacon Sergio Vidales of Levelland, Texas officiating. Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Ellis Funeral Home in Morton. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery. Ruby died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026 in Morton. She was born on Dec. 8, 1967 in Levelland to John Joe and Gloria (Guillen) Chavez. She married David Garza Sr. in Morton on July 13, 1984.
Ruby loved cooking and baking and making burritos and tamales. She kept busy with her crocheting and working outside in her yard. She enjoyed shopping in the TikTok Shop, and was an avid fan of the Steelers. Ruby loved dogs and birds and her Lotto tickets. Her favorite color was yellow, and her favorite band was Bronco. Most of all, Ruby loved her family and spending time with her grandbabies. She spent many hours watching all of their games. Her best friend was Miss Lisa.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David; her mother, Gloria; and a sister, Norma Jean Serda.
Ruby is survived by her son, David Garza Jr. and Emily of Morton, Texas; her two daughters, Samantha Strickland and Kennith of Morton, Texas and Rebecca Garza and Abby of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Cindy Chavez of Lubbock, Texas and Corina Chavez of Morton, Texas; three brothers, Sammy Chavez of Morton, Texas, Bobby Chavez of Lubbock, Texas and Johnny Chavez of Morton, Texas; and her eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
