Hockley County Commissioners Court held its regular meeting on Monday to discuss ordinances and approvals for the county.
The court moved to approve the proclamation for Sexual Assault Awareness Month submitted by The Voice of Hope.
The 2026 audit agreement letter from Atlas CMMS CPA’s and Advisors PLLC was approved by the court. This action binds the two parties and the accounting firm prior to an audit.
The court considered and approved the acceptance agreement for the Drug and Alcohol Program between Hockley County and Allied Compliance Services.
The actions to approve the request for unclaimed property capital credits for counties, and the action to approve Ad Valorem tax refunds were approved by the court.
The request for County Agent Wes Utley of Texas A&M AgriLife approval for out-of-state travel authorization and expenses to attend the National Conference for county agents in Colorado was approved by the court.
In other business, the court approved the sale of a property for unpaid taxes. The property is the south half of Lot 2 and all of Lot 3, Block 27, in Anton, located in Hockley County (parcel ID R17287). The property is set to be sold to L4 Creative Management LLC for $6,200.67.
The action to approve monthly reports for government code 114.044, submitted by Hockley County District Clerk, Hockley County Clerk, and Justice of the Peace Precincts one, two, four, and five, was approved by the court.
(See “Commissioners’ Court” continued on page 2) The court had four discussion topics, all approved, including the action to amend the budget to approve SLFRF interest to fund the renovation of the election office, and the action to budget remaining insurance funds for roof repairs for county buildings.
The action concerning safety door installations, and the proposal for door access control installation at the courthouse, along with a discussion over the use of the courthouse lawn by the Levelland Main Street Program for community planting on May 16, was approved by the court.
A review of all fire runs submitted by the City of Levelland from January to March was held during the commissioners' court meeting.
All monthly bills and claims submitted to the court through April 6 were approved by the court.
