South Plains graduation ceremonies set for May 8

South Plains College will hold two graduation ceremonies on May 8 at the Texan Dome on campus. Two ceremonies will take place, with the first at 9:30 a.m. and the second at 1 p.m.

Students who are eligible for graduation should receive an email regarding registration.

Students set to graduate are advised to arrive 45 minutes early. Check in and line up at the main entrance of the Texan Dome before being escorted inside.

Personal items such as phones, bags and jackets are to be left with guests, and only SPC-approved cords/ stoles are allowed, reported by SPC.

An important notice for students says that diplomas are not handed out at graduation and are mailed four to six weeks after the ceremony.

For parents and any attendees, no tickets are required, seating is firstcome, first-served and doors open about one hour before each ceremony. During the ceremony, a live stream will be available for those who are unable to attend.

Professional photographers will be taking photos via GradImages online. Photos will be taken as each graduate crosses the stage, during the handshake/ diploma cover moment and sometimes additional shots immediately off-stage.

To find graduate pictures online, visit the GradImages website. Students are matched with their photos using their name, school and ceremony date. Students typically receive an email within 1–2 weeks after graduation with a link to view their proofs online, and purchasing is optional.

Parents are allowed to take photos during and after the ceremony, but remember to be considerate of others. Graduates are the only ones allowed on the floor, while guests are not. SPC doesn’t allow airhorns or noise makers, strollers inside the dome, or reserved seating. It’s best to arrive early. Academic recognition will be a big part of SPC's graduation ceremony. Many students, student groups, and staff will be recognized for excellence.
