Memorial service pending for Moyna Faye Smith

(MOYNA) FAYE SMITH

(Moyna) Faye Smith (age 95), passed from this life to her heavenly home with Jesus on April 28, 2026 at Wheatfields Estates in Clovis, NM. She was born September 2, 1930 near Sweetwater, Oklahoma to Claude and Thelma Cupp. Faye grew up at Earth, Texas and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of 10 or 11. This began her long life of serving God and sharing Christ with others. She graduated from Springlake-Earth High School in 1948 and went to Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Texas. There she met the love of her life, Glen C. Smith. They married June 16, 1951 and over the years were blessed with 5 children.

In 1953, Faye and Glen felt God’s call to move to California to complete their education at the newlyopened California Baptist College. She was in the very first graduating class of 1954.

Glen was a pastor in various Baptist churches (mostly in Texas and California) throughout their long marriage, and Faye helped in his ministry in many ways.

She played piano for church services, taught Sunday School, and got all 5 children ready for church (not an easy job!). Faye taught school for many years; mainly grades 3, 4, and 5.

After both Faye and Glen retired from teaching and preaching, they became active in volunteer work with the Texas Baptist Men, and especially with TBM Builders. This is a type of volunteer work which involves mostly retired seniors and all kinds of work are done: building new buildings, remodeling and repair, cleaning, flunky work, office help, etc.— anything that camps, churches, children’s homes, etc. need having done. They travelled in their own 5thwheel travel trailer and worked for no salary. They did this for more than 17 years.

After their health started to fail, they moved from their home in Sundown, Texas to Lubbock, TX. In 2023 they moved to Wheatfields Senior Living in Clovis, NM.

Faye is survived by all 5 of her children: Sharman (Steve) Graham of Irving, TX; Phyllis (Bruce) Bridges of Canyon, TX; Becky (Wayne) Anderson of Clovis, NM; Karen Smith of Littlefield, TX; and Byron Smith of Sundown, TX. She had 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

There will be a family memorial service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Muffley Funeral Home, www.muffleyfuneralhome.com, (575)762-4435.
