Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for July, 5.6% more than in July 2025.
These allocations are based on sales made in May by businesses that report tax monthly.
Locally in Hockley County, Levelland received $395,431, down from last year in same period by 2.40%.
Sundown was down 30.01%, receiving $28,374; Smyer was down 3.82%, receiving $5,957; as was Opdyke West ,receiving $424.
Anton saw a 7.14% increase, receiving $8,772; and Ropesville increased 4.79%, receiving $14,727.
Statewide, cities received $$760.4 million in sales tax revenue, up by 4.7% from last year; counties received $75.2 million, up 6.3%; transit systems, $258.7 million, up 6.6%; and special purpose districts, $126.1 million, up 8.7 million.
In Cochran County, Morton received $19,820, a big 49.96% increase from last year; and Whiteface decreased by -28.91%, receiving $2,317.
