The South Plains College board of regents met this past Thursday to discuss enrollment numbers, review the college’s mission statement and hear financial and tax reports.
SPC campuses reported total enrollment in Fall 2026 increased by 1.6%, reaching 12,048 students. Levelland campus has 2,468 students; Reese, 296; Lubbock Career & Technology, 386; Lubbock Downtown, 1,558; Plainview, 49; Dual Credit, 3,767; and Internet 3,524.
SPC said the enrollment influx is happening in key areas, including dual credit, continuing to drive enrollment growth and reflecting demand for flexible learning options.
Current dual-credit enrollment is at 3,767 students, while Fall 2025 dual-credit enrollment reached 3,386, 1.3% increase. Dual enrollment allows high school students to earn transferable college credits, reducing the time needed to earn a college degree. In addition, internet enrollment grew by 3% to 3,524 students.
A property tax collection report was given showing current collections at $12,117,065 with penalty interest at $75,909. Delinquent collections are $143,116 with penalty and interest at $54,666.
SPC announced Russell Vest and Dr. Stefen Kreuzer as its 2026 distinguished alumni honorees.
Vest is a 1984 graduate of SPC and the CEO of Hockley County Credit Union. He currently serves as treasurer of the SPC Foundation Board and was instrumental in establishing three scholarship endowments through the foundation.
Dr. Kreuzer came from Switzerland in 1983 to SPC to play on the tennis team. He earned went on to earn a Master of Science at TTU; Doctor of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio; orthopedic residency at UT Medical, Galveston; and fellowship in adult joint reconstruction at Baylor College of Medicine.
