Services held for Mercedes Villanueva
Funeral services for Mercedes Villanueva, 76, of Seagraves and formerly of Levelland, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, at Iglesia Bautista Jerusalem Church, located at 811 9th Street, Seagraves, with Pastor Ovidio Martinez, Sr. officiating.
Interment followed in the City of Seagraves Cemetery, under the direction of Head Duarte Funeral Home of Levelland.
Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, January 9, at Iglesia Bautista Jerusalem Church.
She passed away January 6, 2023, in Seagraves.
Mercedes was born October 19, 1946, to Jose and Guadalupe Munoz Martinez, in Zacatecas, Chih., Mexico.
She married Jose Villanueva May 20, 1967, in San Juan, Ojinaga, Chih. Mexico. They had four children from this union.
Mercedes was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Guadalupe Munoz Martinez; her spouse, Jose Villanueva; and two grandsons, Johnny Valles and Anthony Valles.
She is survived by her daughters, Guadalupe Chavez of Brownfield and Delia Villanueva of Seagraves; sons, Sigifredo Villanueva of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico and Arturo Villanueva of Lamesa; sisters: Vicenta Martinez and Amalia Martinez, both of Ojinaga, Chih. Mexico and Maria Arenvias of Colorado City, Colorado; Sisters: Vicenta Martinez and Amalia Martinez, both of Ojinaga, Chih., Mexico and Maria Arenvias of Colorado City, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
