Sandra Long Patterson, 81, passed away on March 8, 2024. She was born on September 17, 1942, in Paris, Texas. She was a long-time resident of Lubbock, before moving to Smyer, where she spent the last 22 years of her life.
Sandra worked at Lubbock County Adult Probation Office, Lubbock District Clerk’s Office, and Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office. She also worked for Relay Texas and Lubbock International Airport Shuttle service. She enjoyed making connections with the people she worked alongside.
She was lovingly known as Son Son by her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed a simple life that included watching football on Sunday, tuning into crime shows, taking trips to Ruidoso with her sisters, and drinking Dr. Pepper. She will be remembered by her laughter and for the ways she showed love for her family.
Sandra is survived by her sisters, Alice Ammons of Smyer, Texas, and Jacquetta Perry of Lubbock, Texas. She is proceeded in death by her parents, William and Beatrice Benson Long, four sisters, Wytoka Casey, Wanda Jones, Billie Jones, Patsy Montgomery, and three brothers, Norval Long, Glenn Long, and Richard Long.
A funeral service will be held at City of Smyer Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, under the direction of Head Duarte Funeral Home and Staff of Levelland.
