Funeral services planned for Nita Joan Lewis, 88
Nita Joan Lewis, 88, of Levelland, passed from this life on April 9, at a care facility in Levelland, TX.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, Sunday, April, 14, 2024 at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 15, 2024, in the Chapel of Krestridge Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Leverton officiating. Interment will follow at Whitharral Cemetery.
Born on December 17, 1935, to M.D. Burrus and Ethel Mae Allison in Whitharral, TX, she married Lee Marshall Lewis on October 9, 1952, in Morton, TX. After they began their marriage, they had two children, Tommy Lee and Vicki Jo. They spent the majority of their child rearing years in the Levelland area. In 1985, they moved to East, TX where they lived until Lee’s death in 2014. She returned to Levelland where she spent her remaining days enjoying her time with her daughter, granddaughter, and greatgrandchildren. She attended Fifth Street Church of Christ in Levelland. She loved attending church, spending time with her family, and going out to eat. She was an avid Whitharral Panther Fan.
Nita is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lee; her only son, Tommy; parents; siblings, Hershel Burrus, Charlie Faye Riley, Lou Emma Edwards, Almos Monroe, Omey Monroe, Tom Burrus and Juanita Polk. Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her daughter, Vicki Clayton of Levelland, TX; daughter-in-law, Charlene Lewis of Blanco, TX; grandchildren, Michelle Cooper (Casey) of Santo, TX, Jacy Lewis (Jim Kamas) of Blanco, TX, Kidron Lewis of Washington DC, SMSgt. Dustin Clayton (Bailey) of Shaw AFB, SC, Chelsea Lewis of Blackhawk CO, and Bethany Gonzales (Diego) of Levelland, TX; nine great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
