Funeral services planned for Gerardo Loa, 77

Mr. Gerardo Loa Jr., 77 of Lubbock went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 11.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 17, at 2 p.m. at Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland. Officiating will be Brother Rush Coffman. Interment will be in the City of Levelland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leonel Loa Jr., Tony Loa Jr., Danny Nathaniel Loa, Jimmy Joe Loa, Jeremiah Elias Loa, Dagoberto Loa. Reflections of life will be private by request of the family.

Gerardo was born to Gerardo Sr. and Artemia Estrada Loa on September 5 , 1946 in Levelland.

Gerardo Loa Jr. proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era, from 1965 until 1967, and continued his service in the reserves for several years afterward. He dedicated over four decades to his role as a professional forklift operator at the Levelland Cotton Compress.

He embraced retirement, finding joy in tinkering with his cars and trucks in the comfort of his shop located at his home. He delighted in collecting and restoring old classic cars, often attending car shows to showcase his passion for vintage automobiles. Gerardo also found great enjoyment in watching custom car restoration TV shows. His personal collection included a1957 Chevy Bel Air, a 1969 Mercury Rag top Convertible, and a 1934 Ford Pickup, each one a source of great pride for him. Among his other hobbies, he enjoyed watching late-night talk shows and attending swap meets. He dearly loved his family and valued the moments shared together. His family and friends describe him as the kindest and most gentle humble man. Gerardo embodied these virtues in every aspect of his character.

He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerardo Loa Sr. and Artemia Estrada Loa three brothers: Ruben Loa, Preciliano (Prini) Loa, Rodolfo (Rudy) Loa Survivors: daughter: Patricia Rodriguez of Lubbock. Sons: Daniel Loa of Lubbock and Gerardo Loa III of Austin. Sisters: Amelia Almager and Minnie Ramirez, both of Levelland and Gloria Flores of Denver City. Brothers: Antonio Loa of Levelland, and Leonel Loa Sr. and Dagoberto Loa, both of Lubbock.

He had seven Grandchildren: Danny Nathaniel Loa, Jimmy Joe Loa, Jeremiah Loa, Miria Loa, Jonathan Foster, Teresa Kay Armenta, and Julianna Rodriguez. Under the Professional Care Head Duarte Funeral Home and Staff Levelland.
