Graveside service for Jean (Richardson) Abbe, age 91, of Lubbock and formerly ofMorton were held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 30, at Morton Memorial Cemetery.
Jean passed from this life on April 27. She was born October 2, 1932, near Lelia Lake, Texas to Burton Eugene and Mattie Mae (Phelps) Richardson. She grew up on a farm in the Maple community and attended Three Way High School.
She married Charles William Abbe on November 16, 1948. The marriage lasted 56 years until Charles death in 2005. Charles and Jean raised their two boys, Charlie and Geneo and two girls, Cheryl and Leann on the family farm south of Maple.
The family later moved to Morton, where she worked at Great Western Meat and later served as Cochran County Treasurer. Jean was a member and attended the Morton Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Charlie, her brothers Delbert Richardson, Basil Richardson and Jack Richardson, her sisters Bonnie Usery and Aleda Mae Wright.
She is survived by her son Geneo and wife Debbie of Granbury, daughters Cheryl Martin and husband Bennie of Dickens and Leann of Lubbock, daughter in law Jeannie Abbe of Ardmore, eight grandchildren ; fourteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a granddog.
