Memorial service for Murlene J. Godfrey, age 85, of Lubbock, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2024 at Morton Memorial Cemetery with Rush Coffman of Morton officiating. Murlene died Friday, July 12, 2024 in Lubbock. She was born November 8, 1938 in Brownfield, Texas to H.H. and Mary Aby (Stegall) Rosson. She married Ted Godfrey in Curry County, New Mexico in 1987.
Murlene was raised in Bledsoe, and she was very involved in her church. She did many things during her lifetime. Murlene was a county appraiser for many years. She was also the secretary at the Bledsoe school. She owned an R.V. park in Pecos, Texas, and farmed there as well. Murlene was a great cook and loved to sew. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ted; her parents; and two sisters, Nelda Bilbrey and Kate Oliver.
Murlene is survived by her son, Jeff Bilbrey of Levelland, Texas; her daughter, Jetahn Kelley and her husband, Richard of Lubbock, Texas; three grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild, with another one on the way.
