A Rosary service will be held for Enriquez Ruiz Montez at 5:00 pm Sunday, Janaury 26, 2025 at Head Duarte Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, Janaury 27, 2025 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Levelland. Father Dylan Crawley will be officating with music provided by Joe Flores. Interment will follow in the City of Sundown Cemetery in Sundown, Texas.
Enriquez Montez went home to be with our Lord and savior on January 19th, 2025, in Lubbock. He married Dora Elia Jaramillo on July 20, 1978, in Clovis, New Mexico and they were blessed with two children from this union. They moved to Sundown in 1984 from Levelland. He worked on farms owned by the Morlin family and Grechen family. He was also a truck driver for Lee Transports Oil Co., Key Energy Oil Co. and Pates Trucking for over 20 years. After a major car accident, he spent the latter part of his life working for four years for the City of Sundown Sanitation Department and was the Land Field attendant. His hobbies were watching the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), listening to Elvis Presley and George Strait music and relaxing with a Coke Zero and eating anything chocolate. He enjoyed being outdoors and would barbecue, tinker around his shop with his tools or sitting on the front porch. He was fond of spending time with his family and all his grandchildren and telling scary stories of experiences he’d had. He is a lifetime member of San Isidro Catholic Mission Church in Sundown and St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Levelland.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mallolo Gonzalez Sr. and Eubelia Montez Gonzalez, sons Chris Montez and James Montez and grandson Roland Garza Jr.
He is survived by his spouse of 46 years Dora Elia Jaramillo Montez of Sundown, daughter Wendy Montez ( Roland Garza) of Sundown, sons Robert Montez of Sundown and from a previous marriage; Richard (Melissa) Montez of Levelland, Mark (Dora) Montez of Lubbock, brother Mallolo Jr. (Maribel) Gonzalez of Levelland, sisters Maggie (Sam) Trevino and Antonia ( Efren) Nunez both of Levelland, grandchildren Kadince, Karigen, Ryland and Rocklin Garza, Robert Jeremiah Jr., Roselee, Ashley , Jeremy, Jacob, Madison and Dominic Montez.
