Funeral services held for Dora Montez

Dora Elia Montez peacefully entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior on September 6, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas.

She was united in marriage to Enriquez Ruiz Montez on July 20, 1978, in Clovis, New Mexico. Together, they were blessed with two children. In 1984, the family made their home in Sundown, having moved from Levelland.

Dora dedicated 32 years of service to Sundown ISD, retiring on May 20, 2022. Her commitment to education and her community was unwavering. Above all, she cherished her family and friends, of ten spending hours on the phone keeping in touch and sharing in their lives.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—listening to her favorite radio programs, watching beloved telenovelas, and relaxing outdoors while watching her husband barbecue and her grandchildren play.

Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She delighted in spoiling them with love and laughter, often sharing treasured stories from her life.

Dora was a woman of strength, love, and generosity, always striving to provide for her family. Her presence, guidance, and warmth will be deeply missed. In her final words to her grandchildren, she expressed how proud she was of them, how deeply she loved them and reminded them to always be good.

She was a lifelong member of both San Isidro Catholic Mission Church in Sundown and St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Levelland, grounding her life in faith and service. She was preceded in death by her parents: Filiberto Jaramillo and Ernestina Garza Jaramillo,spouse of 46 years: Enriquez Ruiz Montez, sister: Martha Olga Jaramillo and grandson Roland Garza Jr.

She is survived by daughter: Wendy Montez ( Roland Garza) of Sundown, son Robert Montez of Sundown, sisters Yolanda Jaramillo, Maria Guadalupe Jaramillo and Sara Alicia Jaramillo, In Laws Sam and Maggie Trevino, Efren and Antonia Nunez and Jr and Maribel Gonzalez and grandchildren Kadince Garza, Karigen Garza, Ryland Garza, Rocklin Garza, Robert Jeremiah Montez Jr. and Roselee Montez.

Funeral Services were held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 13, 2025 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Levelland. Internment followed in the Sundown Cemetery of Sundown, Texas.
