VIRGINIA MEJORADO
Virginia Gonzales Mejorado passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Garden City, KS, surrounded by loved ones.
Virginia was born on February 13, 1939, in El Prieto, Loretto Saca Tecas, Mexico, to Jesus and Juanita Amador Gonzales. She married Juan Sains Mejorado Sr. on March 1957 in Morton. Virginia worked for Rodney Fralin at Fralin's Pharmacy, Long S Gin, Grandville D. Lasseter worked for Lasseter Industries in Morton for several years as a custodian and cleaned Mrs White's home. She was an agricultural migrant worker in Idaho, Glendale, Arizona, and Hatch, New Mexico, during harvest season. She was a homemaker and a domestic engineer. Virginia had many hobbies throughout her life. She loved painting oil portraits for Mrs. Kay Houston of Morton and Mr. J.D. Keel of Seagraves. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, drinking coffee, and talking on the phone. Virginia was a lifetime member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Morton and attended Bible study at the First Baptist Church with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Juanita Amador Gonzales, spouse of 45 years, Juan Sains Mejorado, Daughters Vicky West and Delma Amalla, sons Jordan Mejorado and Luis Mejorado, sisters Amparito Medrano and Erlinda Rivera and his brother Miguel Gonzales, Manuel Gonzales, Juan Gonzales, and Antonio Gonzales. Survivors include her son, Juan Jr. (Maria) Mejorado of Glendale, Arizona, and Cesar (Irene) Mejorado of Whitharral, Daughter Maryann (Jesus) Ornelas of Sublette, Kansas, and Melba (Remijio) Flores of Temple, Thirty grandchildren, twenty-four greatgrandchildren, several great-greatgrandchildren, and brother Jose (Maria) Gonzales of Levelland.
A rosary was held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Head of Duarte Funeral Home in Levelland. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Levelland. Interment will follow in the City of Whiteface Cemetery in Whiteface.
