John Cannon Peters

In Loving Memory Of

Nov. 17, 1990 ~ May 13, 2025

John Cannon Peters was born in Dallas, Texas on November 17, 1990, to Clifford Merrill Peters and Janice Cannon Peters. His cherished older sister, Kim Peters, was his first and lifelong friend.

In 1994, Janice married Thomas Albus, and the family moved to the Yellowhouse Ranch. John and Thomas shared a special bond and loved each other as fathers and sons do. John thrived on the ranch, it was a special place where he learned to love the natural world and appreciate the land and all it had to offer. This led him to pursue a degree in Range Management at South Plains College and Texas Tech University, after his graduation from Littlefield ISD in 2009. Following college, John worked in the wireline industry of the oilfield and there found a passion that he loved and enjoyed.

While at Texas Tech, John met his loving wife and life partner of 10 years, Paige Purvis. They loved traveling, 90s country music, farm and ranch life, the water, their many friends, and their dogs. Their most cherished memories being quiet evenings together on their porch, enjoying their home on Oklahoma Flats.

John loved to be outside and to tinker around. He was creative and had a knack for leatherwork, often making gifts for loved ones. John was lively, funny, intelligent, and kind. His fiery hair was second only to his fiery spirit. He loved with his whole heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand with his ready smile.

John left this earth on May 13, 2025. He will be laid to rest under the beautiful west Texas sky that he loved. He will be greatly missed.

John is survived by his wife, Paige Purvis; mother Janice Richey; stepfather John Richey; sister, Kim Peters and fiancé, Mike McComus. He is also survived by an extended family of brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, and cousins from the Cannon, Wilkinson, Purvis, Albus, and Richey families.

He is preceded in death by his father, Clifford Peters; father, Thomas Albus; grandparents Jimmy and Madge Cannon, Allie and Richard Wilkinson, Clarence and Mary Albus; and his best friend and loyal corgi, Maverick.
