Three school records fall at Plains track meet

The Ropes, Sundown, Smyer and Morton track & field programs all competed at the Everett McAdams Relays at Plains High School on April 2, resulting in three school records being set along with numerous event wins and podium finishes between the programs.

In the girls 200-meter dash, Elexis Robinson (Sundown) placed first with a time of 26.20 and Riley Scifres (Sundown) placed fifth with a time of 28.23. Robinson’s time set a new Sundown school record.

In the boys 200-meter dash, Maddux Sierra (Ropes) placed first with a time of 23.17 and Kaden Riker (Ropes) placed third with a time of 23.42.

In the girls 300-meter hurdles, Ropes’ Adalyn Falls placed first with a time of 45.20 and set a new school record.

In the boys 300-meter hurdles, Mike Williams (Ropes) placed first with a time of 46.55; Stetson Haden (Ropes) placed second 47.48 and Alex Mattox (Smyer) placed third with a time of 48.11.

In the girls 4x400-meter relay, the Ropes relay team of Annabelle Falls, Lila Forsythe, Kinley Nale and Adalyn Falls placed first with a time of 4:10.61, which broke a Ropes school record. The Sundown relay team of Sarah Posadas, Avy Mc-Glasson, Karter Hord and Brynly Gregory placed second with a time of 4:14.44.

In the boys 4x100-meter relay, the Ropes relay team of Zayden Pittman, Maddux Sierra, Branson Simental and Kolter Dockery placed first with a time of 43.37. The Sundown relay team of Josh Hogan, JC Jenkins, Jeremiah Reyes and Ryan Pope placed third with a time of 45.60.

In the girls 4x100-meter relay, the Smyer relay team of Ellie Nelson, Khloe Kimbell- Morgan, Ashtyn Burriss and Kira Posadas placed first with a time of 50.98. The Sundown relay team of Breigh Gregory, Elexis Robinson, Camry Jourden and Emry Jourden placed second with a time of 51.02.

In the boys 4x200-meter relay, the Ropes relay team of Zayden Pittman, Maddux Sierra, Kaden Riker and Kolter Dockery placed first with a time of 1:31.20.

In the girls 4x200-meter relay, the Smyer relay team of Jada Hernandez, Khloe Kimbell-Morgan, Ashtyn Burriss and Kira Posadas placed first with a time of 1:48.89. The Sundown relay team of Elexis Robinson, Breigh Gregory, Camry Jourden and Karter Hord placed second with a time of 1:49.96.

In the boys 100-meter dash, Kolter Dockery placed first with a time of 10.92 and Isaiah Acosta (Ropes) placed third with a time of 11.76. In the girls 100-meter dash, Khloe Kimbell-Morgan placed second with a time of 13.26.

In the girls 400-meter dash, Avy McGlasson placed third with a time of 1:02.09.

In the boys 800-meter run, Smyer’s Austin Martinez placed third with a time of 2:05.16, and in the boys 1,600-meter run, Martinez placed second with a time of 4:48.49.

In the girls 800-meter dash, Avy McGlasson placed first with a time of 2:26.45 and Addilyn Hord (Sundown) placed second with a time of 2:42.48.

In the boys 110-meter hurdles, Nathan McAdams (Sundown) placed first with a time of 15.39; Stetson Haden placed second with a time of 19.19 and Alex Mattox placed third with a time of 19.48. In the girls 100-meter hurdles, Adalyn Falls placed first with a time of 16.09.

In the boys shot put, Victor Saenz (Ropes) placed second with a throw of 45’9”, and in the girls shot put, Zailyn Wylie (Ropes) placed third with a throw of 30’6.5”.

In the boys discus, Kaden Riker placed second with a throw of 131’-11”. In the girls discus, Zailyn Wylie placed second with a throw of 104’-3” and Addison Bridges (Sundown) placed third with a throw of 87’-8”.

In the girls high jump, Ellie Nelson placed first with a jump of 5’-0”; Jada Hernandez placed second with a jump of 4’-10” and Brylee Lauderdale (Ropes) placed third with a jump of 4’-10”.

In the boys pole vault, James Rampy (Smyer) placed first with a vault of 12’-0”; Zayden Pittman placed second with a vault of 11’-6” and Cooper Day (Sundown) placed third with a vault of 10’-6”. In the girls pole vault, Kira Posadas placed second with a vault of 9’-0”.

In the boys long jump, Brayden Villarreal (Morton) placed second with a jump of 20’-7.75” and in the girls long jump, Ashtyn Burriss placed first with a jump of 16’-6.5”. Burriss would also place first in the girls triple jump with a jump of 36’09”.

In the boys team standings, Ropes placed first with 143.5 points, Smyer fifth with 67 points, Sundown placed seventh with 52 points and Morton placed eighth with 17 points.

In the girls team standings, Sundown placed second with 118.75 points, Smyer placed third with 92.25 points, Ropes placed fourth with 80.75 points and Morton placed ninth with 13 points.

Every team returns to action over the weekend for the District Championship Meet at Sundown High School.
