Armed Gun Barn focuses on quality, safety

For those looking for a new firearm, there’s a new business in Levelland that can help.

The Armed Gun Barn officially opened its doors in November 2025. The new business, owned by Kori and Mark McNeal, targets responsible gun enthusiasts, collections and defenders of personal safety providing high-quality firearms, accessories and guidance.

The McNeal’s retired a few years ago and were trying to figure out what they wanted to do. Kori started a business called McNeal and Co., refinishing furniture and doing antique flips. They then considered a metalworks business because Mark loved to redo Jeeps and make parts. The idea of a gun business came to them when Mark was talking about his passion for guns.

“One night he was like I’ve always thought that would be a good business to do in retirement,” said Kori. “We’re not looking to make millions we’re just looking to keep us going while we’re in retirement and we just went for it.”

The McNeals have several years of experience with firearms. Mark has been in the firearm community since he was 9 years old, when he lived in Kansas and hunted every season. In 2015, Mark was diagnosed with cancer and while at home, he began building guns. The couple not only has a NFFL (Federal Firearms License) for retail, but Mark can also manufacture guns.

“He builds things and modifies and customizes, not only for customers but what we actually have on our shelves,” said Kori.

Kori grew up in a gunloving family who went hunting and target shooting. She said got her first gun in her early 20’s and has always been a supporter of the Second Amendment.

“We want other people to have that right to bear arms and it was just a really good fit for us,” said Kori.

When it comes to firearm safety, the McNeals can’t stress enough about doing research and knowing firearms. They plan to host gun safety classes, especially for first-time gun buyers, but will need licenses which may take six months to a year.

“We use a lot of information from the NSSF, the National Shooting Sports Foundation. A lot of their infographics really explain the importance of safety and things that you can do as a first time gun owner,” said Kori.

For the veteran firearm users, they stress of always showing good firearm practice wherever they go.

The McNeals have an extensive catalog of industry-leading brands from old school, such as Browning, Winchester, Colt, Glock, Ruger and Beretta, and carry American-made models as well.

“Our goal, in knowing that Levelland is not going for the $6,000 firearm, is to be a good middle of the road for our customer race,” said Kori. “Yes, we will have some that are over $1,000 but most of what’s in our store will definitely be under that mark.”

They also carry accessories such as ammunition, slings, ear protection, glasses, backpacks and hats.

A person must be 18 or older to purchase a long gun, which is a rifle or a shotgun, and 21 or older to purchase a handgun or suppressor.

“You do not have to have to have your license to carry in order to purchase a gun, but we do a background check on everyone,” said Kori.

The McNeals appreciate the opportunity to own a business in the Levelland community.

“Levelland has been so good to us, we are blown away by the amount of customers that we have already had,” said Kori. “We just really thank the community. Our goal is not only to sell you a firearm, but to make you comfortable with that firearm.”
