The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within, and they do not rest day or night, saying,” Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come.”

Whenever the living creatures gives glory , honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the four and twenty elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne saying, “You are worthy, O Lord to receive glory and honor, and power for you created all things and by Your will they exist and were created.” Revelations 4:8-11

Love is an everlasting bond created by intimacy, passion, and commitment. It is an emotion that brings joy and contentment, and it makes life worth living. Bob Merrill had no idea how prophetic the song he wrote in the 1960’s “Love makes the world go round.” Love truly holds the world in place and keeps it in rotating in orbit, “God is love.” 1 John 4:8. God’s intentions and actions are reflections of His love for us. His love for us is so great that He gave His very best, His son to die for our sins. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” 1 John 1:3 “See what great love the Father has lavished on us.” I love the way Zephaniah 3:17 describes the love of God, “The Lord your God, is in your midst, the Mighty One will save. He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His live. He will rejoice over you with singing.” No wonder Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now abides faith, hope, and love, these three: but the greatest of these is love.” God created mankind to have a family to love and spend time with. Jesus taught the greatest commandment is “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.” John the beloved, also known as John the Revelator knew the love of God, in fact he described himself as “the one whom Jesus loved.” John 20:2. John understood the love of Jesus and he loved Jesus deeply, at the last supper, he was next to Jesus, leaning on Him. “Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.” John 13:23. Love is powerful and those who love deeply get to go places and experience things that other people will never see or know.

In Revelations 4, John, the one who Jesus loved, heard a voice that invited him “come up here and I will show you things which must take place after this.” The Spirit took John into the throne room of God, and “One sat on the throne.” John described what the throne room of heaven will look like. “And from the throne, proceeded lightning, thundering, and voices. Seven lamps were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. Before the throne there was a sea of glass like crystal and in the midst of the throne and around the throne were four living creatures full of eyes in the front and in the back.” The four living creatures do not rest day or night but say, “Holy, Holy, Holy, Who was and is and is to come.” They have worshiped God, day, and night for “forever” and will still be worshiping God when we get there. Have you ever wondered how they can continue to have true praise 24/7 since the beginning of time? The four living creatures have eyes all around them and they fly around the throne of God. As they fly around God, their eyes are intently looking at God and watching to see what revelation or new attribute of God they will get a glimpse of. Every time they get a new revelation or truth about of God, they say “Holy, Holy, Holy, Who was and is and is to come.” I do not believe it is possible for us to fully comprehend who God is, we will spend eternity finding new truths and revelations of who God is and His greatness.

The arrogance of mankind and the deception of the enemy wants people to believe they “have arrived”, and they know everything there is to know about God. When we believe we know everything there is to know about God, our relationship with God becomes boring and stagnant and it is hard to give God the worship that is due Him. There is always something new to learn about God and greater understanding for the revelations we have already received. The truth is God is unlike anything or anyone we could know or imagine, He is one of a kind, unique and without comparison or rival. Some of the ways God wants to reveal Himself to us through is creation ( Romans 1:19-20 and Psalm 19:14), Our conscience or heart ( Ecclesiastes 3:11 and Romans 2:14-15), the life of Jesus ( John 14:9 and

Colossians 1:15), and through His written Word ( John5:39). God has issued an invitation to all of us “Then you call upon me and go and pray and I will listen to you, and you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you says the Lord.” Jeremiah 29:1214a. Will you be like the four living creatures and set your eyes on God, looking for a greater understanding and knowledge of God than you have ever had before?

God does not change, “For I the Lord do not change. Malichi 3:6, but He will reveal Himself to different people in unusual ways and seasons. He was Adam’s Creator, Abraham’s Exceeding Reward, Jacob’s Ladder, Moses’ Burning Bush, The Israelites Cloud by Day, Fire by Night, and Manna in the desert, Joshua’s Commander of the Army of God, David’s Shepherd, Solomon’s Lily of the Valley and Rose of Sharon, Job’s Redeemer, Ezekiel’s wheel inside a wheel, Jeremiahs’ Potter, the three Hebrew Children’s fourth Man in the Fire, Danel’s Lion Tamer, And Elijah’s Still Small Voice. Psalms describes God as: Portion and Inheritance, Our Refuge, Strength, and Ever-Present help while Proverbs says He is our Strong Tower. Jesus described Himself as: The Good Shepherd, Light of the World, The Messiah, Bread of Life, The Living Bread, Living Water, Gate of the Sheep, The Resurrection and the Life, The Way, the Truth, and the Life, and the vine. The New Testament describes Jesus as: The Root of Jesse, Offspring of Jesse, Our Peace, Bright and Morning Star, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, and the Lion of Judah. The Holy Spirit is Fire and a strong rushing mighty wind. God is the same God in three persons that Reveals himself in so many ways.

After the four living creatures fly around and find new Revelation when the look at God and sing Holy, Holy, Holy, the four and twenty elders join in the worship. “Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” Revelations 4:9-11.

Who is Jesus to you? Jesus is your Salvation, your Redeemer, your Deliver, your Peace, your Healer, your Joy, your Strength, your Light, your Way to the Father. When is the last time you were like the four living creatures, and you spent time looking at Jesus until you saw Him in a new way? For most of us, it is too easy to be distracted with life and fail to take the time to really know the three persons that make up the God head. Our worship is related to who we know God to be. If we are not intentional and seeking God to find more about Him, our relationship with God becomes mundane and loses its intimacy. Paul told the church at Ephesus “I do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may give to you the Spirit of Wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.” Ephesians 1:16-18. Once a person becomes enlightened to the many attributes and character of God, adoration and praise are the natural response. Seek God with all your heart, and you will find Him. Then worship Him for who He is. He is worthy of all our praise.
