South Plains College’s Creative Arts Department will offer its Youth Live Ensemble course in Spring 2026 for aspiring musicians ages 10 to 17 years old. Students will have the opportunity to study with SPC Creative Arts faculty members and use professional equipment.
Musicians of any instrument and skill level are welcome to register for the course, which will cover how to play in a band and provide a deeper understanding of bass, drums, guitars, keyboards and vocals. Students can register by Jan. 31 on the online SPC Marketplace and will pay a single $150 cost with no additional sign-up fees. Certain musical equipment will be provided.
The course will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday from Feb. 10 to April 21 in the Creative Arts Building on the Levelland campus. The ensemble will perform during a closing concert on April 27 in the Tom T. Hall Production Studio.
“The goal of the ensemble is to get kids playing in a band,” Brent Wheeler, ensemble instructor and SPC’s commercial music program coordinator, said. “Their closing concert will be featured during Fest Week of Spring 2026.”
