TxDOT prepares for winter weather

It all begins when the weather is still warm and balmy. Well before the winter season, TxDOT staff across the state begin to prepare for snow and ice. Preparations include equipment maintenance, training sessions and replenishing the stock of salt, strategically placed throughout the state.

Blue and You, Blue Santa event set Dec. 16

Santa will be blue on December 16, but not because he is sad or cold. The Levelland Police Department’s “Blue & You” organization will host its 3rd Annual Blue Santa Christmas shopping event for kids on Saturday, December 16.

DPS celebrates new Texas Highway Patrol Trooper class

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) commissioned 79 new Texas Highway Patrol Troopers from recruit class C2023 during a graduation ceremony on Dec. 8, which was held at Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick gave the keynote address.

Christmas Cash Classic set for December 15-17

Levelland will host the Christmas Cash Classic December 15-17, at the Mallet Event Center and Arena. This is the tenth year this event has been held. All pigs will move in on December 15.

AWARD WINNER

LMS educator Mrs. Chelsie Spies was honored on Thursday as a Teacher on the Rise Award Winner from Mrs. Baird’s Bread and United Supermarket. Each month Mrs. Baird’s and United choose the winners and than surprises them with a presentation.

SPECO open house event set for Dec. 19

Students enrolled in the Levelland Opportunity Center and CTED classes invite the community to their Open House. They have been creating and working all semester on goodies and items. The Open House allows students to apply vocational and communication skills learned in the classroom.

Roughneck Theatre holiday play entitled “10 Ways to Survive the Holidays”

The holidays are the most joyful time of the year....right? Some may beg to differ as can be seen by the 2 narrators in the story, “10 Ways to Survive the Holidays.

TIME TO EAT

Several ladies in the community showed up for the 23rd annual Sista-Sista (Circle of Sisters) event this past Saturday. The meal was potluck style and the ladies showed up with yummy goodies for the event. The event is held every year during the month of December.

Studio K Event Set For Dec. 16
