It was another eventful year for the Cotton & Crude Festival that was held Saturday in downtown Levelland.
Spanning several events, the day started with morning pancake breakfast that was hosted by the Levelland Breakfast Rotary Club.
The Smith Auto Family Parade was underway at 9 a.m. with community members lined up along the entire route. The parade began on 11th Street and Avenue H.
Parade results are as follows: For the youth section, Noah, Keiran and Brian Houlette placed first; For the elected officials, municipal entries, the Levelland Police Department took first place; For the auto, motorcycle entries, Enoc Ramirez placed first; For the commercial, business entries, Levelland Martial Arts placed first; For the non-profit organizations, schools and churches entries, Levelland FFA placed first; and
For the all other entries, South Plains College placed first.
In the overall Best of Parade, Levelland PD placed first, South Plains College placed second and Enoc Ramirez placed third.
Following the parade, multiple activities were held throughout the day around the courthouse lawn in the downtown area.
The results of the Stick Horse Race are as follows: In the two-year-old slot, Hank Foster placed first, Randall Griggs placed second and Melody Hall placed third; In the four-year-old slot, Royce Griggs placed first, David Gonzales placed second and Leann Fields placed third; In the five-year-old slot, Lottie P. placed first, Hayden Moody placed second and Averi Fields placed third; In the six-year-old slot, Palmer Foster placed first, Wade Lang placed second and Adeline Gregory placed third; and
In the seven-year-old slot, Logan Gutierrez placed first and Camryn King placed second.
In the Turtle Race, the overall race results are as follows: Casey Daniel placed first, Elliot Keen placed second and Jayde Daniel placed third; and For best decorated, Stetson Dent placed first, Jayde Daniel placed second and Casey Daniel placed third.
The final event held on the courthouse lawn was the sack race.
The results are as follows: In the seven-year-old slot, Adeline Gregory placed first and Lillian Gregory placed second; In the nine-year-old slot, Alexander Compos placed first, Rayden Smith placed second and Stevie Rico placed third; and In the 10-year-old slot, Roger Grant placed first, Jonathon placed second and Brylee Smith placed third.
