Hockley County Grand Jury returns indictments

A Hockley County Grand Jury in the 286th Juridical District Court returned 18 indictments, of which all were made public.

Adrian Chris Leyendecker, 33, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance in penalty group two, less than one gram and attempting to tamper, fabricate physical evidence with the intent to impair.

On or about November 30, 2022, Leyendecker, intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, tetrahydrocannabinol, in an amount of less than one gram.

A second count states on the same day, the defendant knew a law enforcement investigation was pending, attempted to conceal a controlled substance, marijuana, with the intent to impair availability as evidence in the investigation.

Angel Silberio Hernandez, 27, was charged with forgery of a government, nation institution, money and, or security.

On or about December 14, 2022, Hernandez, had the intent to defraud or harm another, cashing in a forged check, knowing the writing to be forged. Such writing had been altered that it purported to be the act of Aurora Hopkins, who did not authorize the act.

Two enhancements were included within the indictment. The first enhancement states the defendant was previously convicted of the state for the felony offense of possessing a controlled substance, penalty grou one, less than on gram, on or about January 6, 2021.

The second enhancement states Hernandez was convicted of the state for the felony offense of fraudulent use of or possession of identifying information of less than five items.

Christopher Raymond Cisneros, 44, was charged with evading arrest, detention with a vehicle and criminal mischief more than $2,500 but less than $30,000.

On or about November 30, 2022, Cisneros, while using a motor vehicle, intentionally fled from Levelland Police Officer Dakota Moody, a person the defendant knew was a peace officer who was attempting to lawfully arrest or detain Cisneros.

A second count states Cisneros on the same day intentionally and knowingly damaged or destroyed tangible property, namely a fence at 110 West Monroe Street in Hockley County when the defendant collided into the fence without the effective consent of Casey Penner, the owner of the property.

Cisneros thereby caused pecuniary loss of $2,500 or more but less than $30,000.

Cory Daniel Chancey, 36, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance in penalty group one,1-B, less than one gram and attempted tampering, fabrication of physical evidence with the intent to impair.

On or about December 31, 2022, Chancey, intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in an amount less than one gram.

A second count states on the same day, Chancey, knew a law enforcement investigation was pending and attempted to conceal a baggie of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, with the interest to impair its availability as evidence in the investigation.

Dominic Chavez, 23, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance in penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram.

On or about April 10, 2022, Chavez, intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, methamphetamine, in an amount less than one gram.

James Lewis Hall, 35, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance in penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram. On or about December 31, 2022, Hall, intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, methamphetamine, in an amount less than one gram.

Jeremiah Shawn Morin, 18, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance in penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram.

On or about October 9, 2022, Morin, intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, cocaine, in an amount less than one gram.

Jesus Antonio Cervera, 20, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance in penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram.

On or about October 9, 2022, Cervera, intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, cocaine, in an amount less than one gram.

Mathew Lee Adams, 22, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance in penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram.

On or about October 9, 2022, Adams intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, cocaine, in an amount less than one gram.

Mason Moore, 28, was charged with the assault of a family, house member, impeding breathe or circulation.

On or about January 19, Moore, knowingly and recklessly caused bodily injury to a member of the defendant’s family by intentionally impeding the normal breathing or circulation of the blood of the family member by applying pressure to the throat or neck and or blocking the nose or mouth.

Michael Anthony Casares, 33, was charged with having a prohibited substance, item in a correctional, civic, commercial facility and the possession of a controlled substance penalty group one, 1-B, less than one gram.

On or about September 25, Casares, intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, methamphetamine, while in the Hockley County Jail, a correctional facility.

A second count states, Casares, knowingly possessed a controlled substance, methamphetamine, in an amount less than one gram, on the same day.

Michael Thomas Webb, 40, was charged with the unauthorized use of a vehicle. On or about December 16, 2022, Webb, intentionally and knowingly operated a motor vehicle without the effective consent of Wendy K. McIlveen, the owner.

Ricky Jacob Sanchez, 18, was charged with evading arrest, detention with a vehicle. On or about December 11, 2022, Sanchez, intentionally fled from Trooper Mathew Duenes, a person the defendant knew was a peace officer who was lawfully attempting to arrest or detain the defendant.

A second count states Sanchez, knowingly, recklessly, or with criminal negligence, engaged in conduct that placed a child younger than 15-years-ofage, in imminent danger of death, bodily injury, or physical or mental impairment, by evading arrest while the child was inside the motor vehicle.

Rudy Merimon, 24, was charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance in penalty groups three and four, more than 28 grams but less than 200 grams. On or about October 27, 2022, Merimon, knowingly possessed, with the intent to deliver, a controlled substance, tramadol, in an amount of four grams or more, but less than 200 grams.

An enhancement in the indictment states Merimon, on or about May 24, 2019, was convicted of the felony offense of evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle.

Steven Eugene Altmon, 60, was charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group one, 1-B, more than four grams but less than 200 grams. On or about November 16, 2022, Altmon, knowingly possessed, with the intent to deliver, a controlled substance, methamphetamine, in an amount of four grams or more but less than 200 grams.

Enhancements included in the indictment state the defendant was convicted for the felony offense to manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group one of more than four grams but less than 200, on or about January 17, 2007.

Velma Conde, 31, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1, 1-B, less than one gram. On or about September 19, 2022, Conde, intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, methamphetamine, in an amount less than one gram.
