Levelland Chamber looks toward busy weekend

The ABC Pro Rodeo along with the National Little Dribblers’ Tournament and the Bats Backwards Baseball Tournament will be in Levelland April 3-7 bringing in 6,500 plus visitors.

Most recent total direct travel spending revenue per Texas Travel, office of the Governor, tourism division is $23.1 million in Levelland. These three sizable events in Levelland will have an economic impact close to $1 million.

The Levelland Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Lubbock Sports Authority are working together in accommodating all guests for the three major events taking place in Levelland.

ABC Pro Rodeo Organization along with the Levelland Chamber of Commerce will commemorate the 81st ABC Pro Rodeo with a ribbon cutting on April 3 at 10 a.m. at the Mallet Event Center and Arena Expo Hall. Nightly performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee performance will be on April 6 at 1:30 p.m. The Cowboys and Gypsies Vendor Show opens at 6 p.m. from April 4 to April 6 and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on April 6. The Vendor Show is free to the public. Reserved rodeo tickets can be purchased at Select-a-Seat. The ABC Pro Rodeo benefits the Lubbock Boys & Girls Club.

All Little Dribblers’ games will be played in Levelland ISD and South Plains College gyms. Little Dribblers’ brackets and game times are available at www.levelland.com. There will be approximately 70 teams in the tournament. Adult tournament passes are $35.00, child tournament passes are $20.00 and day passes are $20.00. Little Dribblers’ Basketball, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to organizing community youth basketball leagues.

Little Dribblers was founded in 1969 by four dads with a desire to build a youth basketball program that was open to all boys and girls in the community with a desire to learn how to play basketball. The guiding principle behind Little Dribblers is player development.

Twelve teams will be playing in the Bats Backwards Baseball Tournament that is held at the Oxy Sports Complex. Pets are not allowed at the complex. The Oxy Sports Complex opened in 2014. It houses four youth softball or baseball fields, two batting cages and has 10 acres of soccer or open space for a playing field area.
